CAMBRIDGE CELTA

TBI is the only organization in Indonesia that is certified by the university of Cambridge English to run CELTA training courses and this keeps TBI abreast of the latest development in teacher training and teaching methodology.

Qualification

Issued by Cambridge Language Assessment, a part of Cambridge University. The most widely recognised initial teaching qualification, and in many countries it is a pre-requisite for employment. Participants receive a Certificate with grade and an Individual report issued by Cambridge.

The course is primarily practical and:

  • develops an awareness of learners and teachers and the teaching and learning context
  • covers language analysis and awareness
  • covers language skills (reading, listening, speaking and writing)
  • focuses on planning and resources
  • develops teaching skills and professionalism

Please be advised that we are also the test venue for Cambridge DELTA Module 1 exam. We charge candidates IDR 2,5 million for administration fee. The exam is 4 hour long conducted on the first Wednesday in June and December every year.

Pathway to CELTA

Qualification
Issued by TBI. This program is designed to prepare applicants for future enrollment into the Cambridge CELTA course. Applicants are assigned to different levels in the program to meet their development goals.

Cambridge TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) Preparation

Qualification
TKT certificate.

The exam preparation courses provide candidates with the essential skills needed to successfully complete the TKT tests.

TBI Training

General Introduction to Teaching English (GITE)

Fill out GITE application form  > pre-course interview > acceptance or rejection letter > if accepted, complete payment at the latest 4 weeks prior to course commencement.  Participants receive a Certificate of attendance and an Individual report issued by TBI.  It aims at developing skills and knowledge to teach adults aged 16+. This intensive course is a very practical introduction to the teaching of English as a foreign language (TEFL).

Introduction to Teaching English to Children (ITEC)

Fill out ITEC application form  > pre-course interview > acceptance or rejection letter > if accepted, complete payment at the latest 4 weeks prior to course commencement.  Participants receive a Certificate of attendance and an Individual report issued by TBI.  It aims at developing skills and knowledge to teach children aged 7-11 years old. The ITEC is a practical introduction to teaching children, and the course is aimed at introducing participants to a modern, fun, ‘activity-based’ approach. The programme has three short peer teaching practices. This course is usually taken after a participant has successfully completed a GITE.

Introduction to Teaching English to Pre-schoolers (ITEP)

Fill out ITEP application form  > pre-course interview > acceptance or rejection letter > if accepted, complete payment at the latest 4 weeks prior to course commencement.  Participants receive a Certificate of attendance and an Individual report issued by TBI.  The ITEP is similar to the ITEC and focuses on teaching younger children aged 4-6 years who are unable to read or write in English yet. The input sessions cover topics such as using storytelling, and arts and crafts in teaching ESL to children of this age. There are a few peer teaching pratices scheduled at various times within certain sessions.

Teacher Development Workshops (TDW)

Participants receive a Certificate of attendance issued by TBI.  Enrolment procedure payment at the latest 5 working days prior to workshop day.  The workshops are designed for practicing teachers, who want to learn about specific aspects of teaching English.
