Testimonials - Minerva

I've been with TBI since 2007 and have found it to be both challenging and rewarding. When I first started, I was based in Bandung at TBI Jawa, where most of the students were children and teens. The teachers and the staff made me feel very welcome and soon became a second family to me. In the teachers room, we provided each other with a lot language support for class and life - they even helped me improve my Indonesian and taught me some Sundanese!

Later on, as I became more experienced, I was moved to TBI Dago and was able to expand into teaching test preparation courses for TOEFL and IELTS as well as business classes. Finally, in 2010, I was offered the chance to teach at TBI Kuningan - which I eagerly jumped at - and was quickly made a full time Jakarta teacher. Sometimes, I miss my old family in Bandung, but it's not a biggie as it's only a couple of hours away by car.

I've been introduced to many new experiences in Jakarta and given more opportunities to develop myself at TBI Kuningan. I teach all sorts of classes and students, from young children to adults. I really enjoy the different types of classes that I've been exposed to here, like Better Writing for Business. There have also been training programs and workshops where fellow teachers can share knowledge and different techniques for the classroom. Now I'm looking into other certification programs as well, which TBI Kuningan could certainly help me with as I've already got a CELTA. I really look  forward to what my second contract in Jakarta will bring...
