E-Clubs - Car Free Day in Bandung
Early Saturday morning on 30 May 2009, while most people were still in bed enjoying their weekend lie-in, E-Club Dago and JJ gathered with the BALAD KURING, a non profit organization which works to improve the greenness of our beloved city of Bandung, to take part in a ‘Car Free Day’ event. Also attending were the Minister of the Environment Mr. Rachmat Witoelar, the Governor of West Java Mr. Ahmad Heryawan, the Deputy-Governor Mr. Dede Yusuf and the Mayor of Bandung, Mr. Dada Rosada . There were numerous other participants who came along and lent their support, including our own famous singer Nugie. We all had one aim in mind: to make our city cleaner, greener and more beautiful!

The event kicked off at 7 o’clock in the morning with breakfast at the house of our famous Deputy Governor Mr. Dede Yusuf, which is just across the road from TBI Dago. From there we marched together from Jalan Dago to Jalan Dipenogoro (where the main event took place). Along the way we engaged in many activities, but the main focus was picking up rubbish! The people of Bandung enjoyed the car free day by walking, roller-skating and cycling, but the TBI E-clubbers had a very special mission. That mission was to spread the word to the citizens “Why waste plastic bags? Choose reusable bags!”.

While we marched we encouraged pedestrians to swap their plastic bags for environmentally friendly TBI bags. We believe that saving our Earth has to start from small things and that using reusable bags is part of our responsibility to support the concept of a clean Bandung and to encourage an environmentally friendly way of life!
Lets do our part- Why plastic bags? Choose reusable bags! See you at the next TBI E-Club event!
